Please read this article of a Local Texas boy who only wanted to do well for himself and help others along the way ..a true hero and I hope all you local members can make his sendoff~He was a great human being and brother biker~

Staff Writer

Joshua Adams recalls a time when, as a teenage driver in Lindale, he was stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire. His brother, Mark, too young to drive, peddled his bicycle over to change it for him.

Joshua recalls a time as an adult when he got laid off from a job in Salt Lake City and his brother, living on the salary of a motorcycle mechanic, flew out to see him. When Mark left, Joshua said he discovered a note inside his brief case — along with $1,000.

“Mark didn't have a lot of wealth,” Joshua said, remembering the gesture. “(He) just left a note saying … he never wanted to see a dollar of that paid back to him.”

That was a common thread in Mark's life, family members said. Helping people came naturally to the 28-year-old Lindale native.

On Thursday, while stopped to help a stranded motorist on Interstate 4, outside of Lake Helen, Fla., Mark was struck by another car and killed.

Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol were not available for comment on the accident Sunday afternoon.

While Mark's death shocked his family, almost as shocking has been the flood of support they've received.

Over the course of a 10-year career as a motocross mechanic, Mark rubbed shoulders with big names in the sport, starred in a MTV series and pursued a lifelong dream with fervor.
“He was just a kid that knew what he wanted and would chase that dream,” said Carolyn Adams, Mark's mother. “He loved motorcycles.”

Carolyn said Mark followed in the footsteps of his late father, Audy Adams, a Tyler Police Department lieutenant who also had a passion for motorcycles.

Audy died when Mark was only 9, but Carolyn said he inherited his father's love for and ability with machines.

Joshua said his brother could often be found in his father's shop, tinkering and building away.

After graduating Lindale high school in 2002, Mark doggedly pursued a job at a KTM, a motorcycle company in California. In a short time, he worked his way up in the company to being a mechanic for the Supermoto motocross team.

From there, he signed on with the Joe Gibbs Racing team in 2008, started by the son of the NFL Hall of Fame coach.

Mark worked for the MTV series “Nitro Circus,” which featured motocross stars Travis Pastrana and Andy Bell, both of whom will be pallbearers at Mark's funeral.

Most recently, Mark made his career as the personal tuner for rider James “Bubba” Stewart Jr., whose talents on the track have boosted him into the highest echelon of motocross competitors.

At the Monster Energy AMA Supercross competition, held in Oakland, Calif., Saturday, Stewart honored Mark by dedicating his first victory of the season to the mechanic's memory.

On top of those sport stars, Mark maintained a friendship with country star Miranda Lambert, Carolyn said.

Although his family was aware of his work, both Joshua and Carolyn said they've been stunned since to the accident at the response from those who knew him.

“I had no idea where his place in his industry was until now,” Joshua said. “To me, he was just Mark.”

Carolyn said in the days since the accident, the family has been flooded by calls from people who knew Mark.

The loss has been difficult, but the support she's received from those people has been vital in dealing with the loss, she said.

“It had been nonstop,” she said. “I couldn't do this without my friends.”

While praised for talents with motorcycles and dirt bikes, Joshua said the most enduring thing about his brother was his willingness to help others.

“To me, he was the example of selflessness,” he said. “It didn't matter where you stood in life. You were important to him.”

Visitation of Mark will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 4000 Nazarene Road in Carrolton on Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Donations in his memory can be made to Miranda Lambert's Muttnation Foundation, at P.O. Box 1270, Lindale, 75771, or online at muttnationafoundation.com.

Mark's funeral in Lindale will be at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church following internment at the Lindale Cemetary. A reception and celebration fo his live will be held at the Red 55 Winery and Miranda Lambert store at 100 E. Hubbard in Lindale.
